How Sweet It Is.

"Know that you are the perfect age.
Each year is special and precious, for you shall only live it once.
Be comfortable with growing older."  - Louise L. Hay

36.  Phew.  Not sure why i'm having a tough time with this birthday?  I'm still young, happy, healthy, vibrant and filled with love and life.  I should be screaming joy from the top of my lungs, but i can't help but dwell on a few blanks....a few unanswered giant question marks in my life.  Do I want children?  I dunno.  Marriage?  Dunno.  Is my career on the upswing?  Hmm, still dunno.  Really, i just dunno - dunno if i want em', dunno if i want it, dunno if it's getting any better.  Two years back i told myself i'd have these questions answered by 36...and well...i don't.

"Rather than focusing on what you can't control, focus on what you can"

I confess, i haven't been as good to my body lately as i have in the past.  My schedule has gotten so hectic i'm not spending as much time doing yoga or exercising and my foodie indulgences and celebratory birthday month cocktails have left me feeling like a stuffed sausage in my sevens and joes.  I've put on a few extra pounds just in time for bikini season and don't even have a romantic european tale of lasagna, baguettes, and vino to go along with it.

"Let go of small thoughts about yourself!  See yourself succeeding"

What i do have though is a lot of love in my heart, and a ton of love and support around me.  I've celebrated this birthday for weeks on end now embraced in the company of my dearest friends, friendliest faces, and loving hearts.  Perhaps today i can forget those pressing questions and simply enjoy living in this moment.

"Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose."

When i woke this morning i had a moment of clarity.  It's time to clean up.  Not just polishing up my diet (which most people would scoff at me for saying it needed polishing, but hey, we can all use a little sweeping up at times), but cleaning up the clutter in my life.  Time to clean out the closets, the cabinets, the desk.  Time to clean up the cobwebs and make room for growth and expansion.

"Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change."

And with that i bid adieu....time to climb on my schwinn and journey down to the deep blue sea.   Ahhh, but before i do, i leave you with 10 of my favorite sweet links...just in case some of you geminis out there want to make a little something sweet for your birthday too.
