Tricks & Treats For Halloween

Please note:  In case you should run into any ghouls, goblins, or un-human beings things week, these are your need to know spook-proof tips.

If you believe you are being followed by a ghost, jump in a stream, river, or creek or just cross over it.  A ghost cannot cross over moving water.

Hanging a horseshoe over your doorway keeps the witches out.

Wind Chimes are believed to scare away bad spirits.

Cover any mirrors so that spirits that are just crossing from life to death don't use them as portals as they move from one world to another.

Do not use a ouija board or hold a seance.  These invite ghosts into the living world.

If you throw a key at a ghost, the ghost will disappear....who knew?

Garlic.  Always wear garlic to keep the vampires at bay.

And now that you know the tricks to keep ghouls away how about a few halloween treats for the little devil in you?

While carving your pumpkin, scoop out the seeds and roast them up.  Crunchy, salty, simple, delicious.

rinse the seeds in a colander and get rid of any pumpkin flesh.  heat oven to 300.  Melt 2 tsps of ghee or butter.  Coat the seeds with the melted ghee, top with salt, and bake for about 35 minutes stirring occasionally

Pick up a few persimmons, allow to ripen and devour them as is, or make a sweet halloween persimmon salad

Cozy up the house by baking a batch of granola

or skip baking all together and create raw carrot cake cupcakes

And for even more halloween fun, make these cute little banana ghosts i found on pinterest.
