For The Love Of Chocolate, It's Actually Good For Us!! : Chocolatey Superfood Milkshake

'Superfoods' is an often heard buzz word used for many stellar fruits/foods that come from all over the globe and have amazing antioxidant and nutrient qualities. I've put together a scrum-dilly-icious chocolate milkshake that boasts a few of these so called 'superfoods'.

The All-Stars in this recipe are:

Lucuma Powder - Lucuma is a Peruvian fruit that contains beta-carotene, niacin, and iron. The powder, which is low in sugar, is used as a healthy alternative sweetener to lend a sweet taste to recipes.

Mesquite Flour - Mesquite contains the amino acid lysine and has notable quantities of digestible protein, calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, zinc, and may help balance blood sugar levels. The flour offers a naturally sweet and malty flavor to recipes and is an excellent form of fiber (meeting almost a quarter of daily needs in just two tablespoons).

Maca - Maca is a plant native to the Andes and Peru. It has long been used to increase stamina, boost libido, and combat fatigue. As an ataptogenic herb, it enables the body to more easily handle stresses burdened upon it. There are four identified alkaloids present in maca, which are known to nourish the endocrine system (our body system which is responsible for the production and maintenance of hormones). Maca root is packed with vitamins, plant sterols, many essential minerals, amino acids and healthy fats. Many athletes grow fond of maca...i personally enjoy the energy boost it offers.

Cacao - For the love of chocolate it's actually good for us!!! Cacao contains a naturally rich supply of antioxidants and is an excellent source of dietary fiber. It's known to be one of the richest sources of dietary magnesium and contains an impressively high iron content.
